LETSlink UK was established in 1991 following The Other Economic Summit
(TOES Conference) with the aim of spreading information about LETS
and how to set them up. During the nineties LETSlink UK supported
a rapidly growing community of LETS organisations. National conferences
were organised, in collaboration with local groups, in Winchester,
Milton Keynes, Bristol and Portsmouth. LETSlink UK was active with
others in projects such as the LETS Eat Project and the LETS & Benefits
Campaign. Much of this work was unfunded and dependent on the energy
of a small number of people. From 1997-99 LETSlink UK was funded from
the Lottery and the HQ moved from Wiltshire to Portsmouth.
no continuation funding could be identified, key individuals withdrew
and the organisation has rather drifted in recent years. Some thought
it was dead. Many LETS members valued the contribution made by LETSlink
UK throughout the nineties and regretted the loss of a 'national body'.

information: A newly formed continually developing music based time
bank/LETS scheme. Its fundamental principle is that one-hour of one
person's time, regardless of skill, ability or education, is equal
to that of anyone else. In this way, individuals will be responsible
for their own reputation, thus enhancing the quality of service. We
are an international locally based scheme. We are local because we
at present work in England's Bristol and Bath areas. We are international
because we want international partners to help set up the scheme everywhere
invite others in different localities to try our scheme in their local
area. You are invited to use our new software and help us develop
it. We offer this to manage the time of those who participate and
to reduce and manage administration. Anyone having similar objectives
to ourselves, please get in contact so that we can strengthen our
collective voices. Umbrella
