January 2006: The BMT stands for Byron/Mullum/Tweed [Local Exchange
Trading System]. We are a non-profit alternative trading organization
that services the beautiful districts of Byron Bay, Mullumbimby and
the Tweed Valley on the far north coast of NSW. We are a growing network
of individuals who exchange or trade products and skills by using a
Local Currency called ‘Ecos’. The office is open every Wednesday
10 am till 3 pm. BMT-Lets has a bi-weekly latest news email called LETitia,
and a stall at a number of local weekend markets. In 2000 BMT LETS went
into partnership with NimLETS and RivLETS to create a paper currency
to allow us to trade between groups. This has boosted business membership
and given great promotional coverage to BMT LETS. [BMT LETS absorbed
the Byron-Mullum LETS and Tweed Valley LETS, c. 1997].

Fifteen+ years old, membership 22 in 2003. QBC is reinventing itself.
Website plans include: an up to date trading directory with membership
numbers and balances.
Newsletters are emailed where possible, rather than posted. Hosted a
visit by the 3 economics professors from Kobe Uni, March 2003, and the
Korean group mid 2003.

We produce quarterly newsletters which also advise members of the venues
for Trade Days. These are well attended and visitors can join on the
day. Our "accounts" are all online now so members have up
to the minute information on what is available from whom. And also can
access their personal accounts to check balances and make electronic
payments for trades.

Area: Newcastle, Hunter Valley, Dungog, Pt Stephens, etc.
Hunter LETS is an amalgamation of the systems which used to exist in
these areas: Newcastle, Maitland, Cessnock and Dungog, many of whose
members joined Hunter after those systems closed. Membership spreads
as far north as Tambar Springs and Barrington and south to residents
of Sydney who have property in the Hunter.
We produce quarterly newsletters which also advise members of the venues
for Picnic and Trade Days, themes: Red Faces, Games, Music, etc. These
are well attended and visitors can join on the day. New directories
are produced twice a year, with updates in the quarterly newsletters.

Former coordinator wrote in 7/2005 that shop and office closed in 2002,
but 20-30 members might still be trading with occasional market days.

to most meets being at individual member’s homes.

Began in 1993. Merged with local permaculture group in 1998.
Area: the City of Wagga Wagga, Junee, Coolamon, The Rock and surrounds.
As the geographical area is so large more members would boost trading
opportunities. Groups hold trading days in their regions. Seed swap
usually held in conjunction with AGM in September. Around 30 members
September 2003.
